Women Helping Women, Stitch by StitchPresented by Rubia and The Women's Caucus for Art, Philadelphia Chapter Opening Night : May 2, 2008 @ The City Government Building, Wilmington DE
Project: Members of the WCA can choose to create artwork, based on Rubia motifs, on a 10x10 piece of fabric. These pieces will be sewn together in a large quilt, with a Rubia embroidery centered in the quilt. Any medium can be used, as long as it stays within the 10 x10 square. Please look at Rubia motifs for inspiration and interpretation. Exhibition: The quilted piece will be displayed as part of a larger show, called "Environmental Distress" during May 2008 at the City Government Building in Wilmington Delaware. Objective: To create a larger exposure for Rubia's grassroots project. To emphasize a collective notion of Women's Art or domestic art. To show that beautiful things can come from a war-torn region. To emphasize interconnectedness of all actions. |
